I have always loved watching series. I am a series freak actually. It is really an obsession. I watched a lot of them some where excellent and educator and others not so much, but i dont mind. In fact, I like «Queens» as much as «The 100». Well, the thing is that I really love this series and how it transmit the rhythm of the situation with the architecture of the plane. Perhaps you have heard of it, perhaps not. It is an incredibly beautiful and has great buildings. sii if you haven´t seen it and your interested, i alert you in this text there are spoilers.
«The 100» is an American post-apocalyptic science fiction drama. The series, developed by Jason Rothenberg, is loosely based on the novel series of the same name by Kass Morgan.
After a long time in the ark used as a floating house in the space for thousands of people during decades, because of a nuclear apocalypse that wiped out all life on Earth. As they got to know of a problem with the life-support systems, 100 juveniles are sent to Earth to determine whether it is habitable or not. They begin knowing nothing and soon they discover they are not alone. Under the leadership of Bellamy and Clarke, the juveniles attempt to survive the harsh surface conditions, battle hostile grounders, and establish communication with the Ark.
In the second season, the mount weather people capture the rest of the remaining 100 to experiment with them because they are still unable to go outside because of the radiation. Meanwhile, the inhabitants of the Ark have crash-landed various stations on Earth and begin an alliance with the grounders to save both their people.
In the third season, Alpha Station renamed Arkadia, comes under new management when Pike, is elected as chancellor and begins a war with the grounders. Furthermore, the grounder leader Lexa is killed by her mentor during a failed assassination attempt on Clarke. A.L.I.E. is revealed to have responded by solving the problem of human overpopulation by launching the nuclear apocalypse that devastated Earth and begins to use ingestible computer chips to take control of peoples’ minds. A.L.I.E. is ultimately destroyed by Clarke, but not before warning of an impending apocalyptic disaster.
In the fourth season, hundreds of nuclear reactors around the world are melting down due to decades of neglect. Clarke and the others search for ways to survive. When it is discovered that the grounders with black blood can metabolize radiation, Clarke and the others attempt to recreate the formula, but fail. An old bunker is discovered that can protect 1,200 people for over five years from the new apocalypse. A small group decides to return to space and attempt to survive in the remnants of the Ark. Clarke, who is now a night blood, remains on the Earth’s surface alone.
In the fifth season, six years after the meltdown of the nuclear reactors, a prisoner transport ship arrives in the only green spot left on Earth, where Clarke and Madi, a Night blood grounder who also survived, have been living. Those who survived in space and in the bunker have returned safely on the ground. A struggle for the Shallow Valley between united clan, known as Wonkru, and the prisoners begins, resulting in a battle ending with the valley being destroyed. The survivors escape to space and go into cryosleep while they wait for the Earth to recover. However, Earth will apparently never recover, so they set the prison ship on a course for a new world.
This series is ubicated in Vancouver, Washington, where we can see a lot of interesting architecture but the one that got me most keen was the light city created by the A.L.I.E. the artificial intelligency.
In this city its supposed that people never die, and they show this place with a mosern futuristic architecture. As if it was a perfect place. what leads me to the next question, Why on earth is our perfect city a futuristic one? people nowadays only think that the ideal buildings are those one that seem as futuristic as better, but it makes me think what a nonsense, you will be asking me why i think so.
I think so because nowadays our buildings the ones that we construct with sech an elegancy has just that. Instead, we should look in the Egyptian or the romans architecture. Those buildings did not have just style they where strong enough to be kept till today. Our so precious buildings are too fragile, the earthquakes, the fire… and a lot of other natural things destroy them as it is was as easy as to destroy a paper.
